GLEC Process for Preliminary and Final Rounds

Preliminary Round
Speaking
The topics for the Preliminary Round and Final Round are the same, so participants will need to memorize the script submitted in the Preliminary Round and present in front of judges in the Final Round. The judges will be composed of one UN expert and one English expert. Participants will need to prepare for a Q&A Session with the judges after the speech.
Online Application (can be submitted after making payments)
-MP3(or WMA) Recording File (applicants should memorize their written scripts and record their speech using Apps or programs on their cellphones/computers/laptops)
-Speech Script (should have the same contents with the recording file)
-ID Photo (will be used for ID verification on the final round day)
Speech Time Limits:
-All applicants are highly recommended to keep the given speech time limit.
-Elementary Track: 3 minutes
-Junior High Track: 4 minutes
-High School Track: 4 minutes
-University Track: 5 minutes
Essay
The topics for the Preliminary Round and Final Round will have a similar theme. The judges will be composed of UN experts who will grade the essays based on the ETS TOEFL iBT Writing Section Criteria
Required Files for Application:
-Online Application (can be submitted after making payments)
-Essay (Essays will be graded by professionals based on the ETS TOEFL iBT Writing Section Criteria)
-ID Photo (used for ID verification on the final round day)
Essay Word Limit:
All applicants are highly recommended to keep the given word limit.
-All tracks word limit: 500 ~ 700 words

Final Round Procedure
Participants will enter a designated exam room with their admission tickets and ID.
Participants will speak in front of two judges (one UN expert and one native English language professor).
The contents of the Speech must be the same as the one submitted in the Preliminary Round. If not, the participants may have points deducted by the examiners.
After their speech, participants have to answer questions from the judges regarding their speech and topic.
Speech Time Limits:
All applicants are highly recommended to keep the given speech time limit.
Elementary Track: 3 minutes
Junior High Track: 4 minutes
High School Track: 4 minutes
University Track: 5 minutes
Essay

Final Round Procedure
Participants will enter a designated exam room with their admission tickets and ID.
When the exam begins, an essay topic will appear on the computer screen.
Participants are given 50 minutes to write their essays on their given topics.
Essays will be graded by professionals based on the ETS TOEFL iBT Writing Section Criteria.
Essay Word Limit:
All applicants are highly recommended to keep the given word limit.
All tracks word limit: 500 ~ 700 words
